My name is Robert E. Barger and I have been called by God to be a teacher of His Word and give understanding to the body of Christ that they might inherit the promised land of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
I am 68 years old and I accepted Jesus into my heart when I was twelve years old, but when I turned 34 my world fell apart. At that point I cried out to God, Why God? Why has this happened to me? The Lord lead me to start studying the Bible. Little by little the Lord said to me through His Word, This is why! This is why! This is why! From that point on I was in His word ten and twelve hours a day.
Throgh that lesson I learned, to just ask Jesus into your heart is not enought, but we must have the Word of God hide in our heart. Jesus said, it will not be the hearer of the Word that shall be justified, but the doer of the word that shall be justified. The things that the Lord has showed me is that there is a way that seemeth to be right, but the end thereof are the ways of death. Jesus was manifested to destroy the works of the devil. The works of satan are in us. He was a liar from the beginning and the father of it. Jesus said, I have come that you might have life, and have it more abuntantly. I am the way, the truth, and the life, no man cometh to the Fathe except”through me”. Jesus said, in John 3:18 He that believeth not, is condemned “Already” because he believeth not in the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that “light” has come into the world, but men love darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. The only thing that is going to live forever is the Word of God, and to live forever, we MUST have the word of God in us that God would get the glory through Jesus Christ, THE WORD OF GOD! (John 1:1)

Dear Robert, I have read your replies to Pastor Barkman and added one of my own. I totally agree with you that the spiritual gifts remain and are flowing today. I have personally witnessed total healing in my mother, and other gifts within myself and family. He is a dear wonderful man and blogger and Bible teacher but how does one address this issue when we obviously disagree with him? It doesn’t even make sense that God would not want this for today. It is the only saving grace we have. I read and research many of today’s prophets and I have never heard one of them say the higher spiritual gifts stopped at any point! If anything they are spreading the word for people to ask for them! The Bible clearly states this with no indication that I have read it was only for the century around Jesus ministry. And what about past revivals? Azusa Street? and women like Maria Etta Woodworth? There are many through out history where speaking in tongues and healings occurred after 100A.D. I respect Pastor Barkman so much but I can’t agree with him on this. What do you think?

Just because we like someone does not mean they are right. There is only one truth. If a person does not have the truth and they will not hear you, Jesus said, leave them alone, they will fall into the ditch. If it’s not truth, there is a curse attached to the lie that will make the person question where they stand. Every truth can be proved by two or more scriptures saying the same thing. If our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost, in hume the god of this world has blinded the mind of them that believe not. 2 Corinthians 4:3.
