Why God Shows us Mercy!
King James Bible
18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
20 For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,
21 Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.
23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.
In verse 19 & 20 we are told that we had no choose in coming to earth to suffer, but God did it “hoping” that we would make it through the regeneration. We were made subject to vanity, not willingly. It tells us in John 3:17-19 that we are condemned “already” (John 3”18) by the life of Christ and we stand guilty before God. The thing that condemns us is the life of Christ. (John 3:19) And this is the condemnation, that light has come into the world, (The life of Christ!) but men loved darkness rather than light!) We were born sinners by the sin of Adam. It’s in our nature to love sin. There are three things that condemn us, the lust of the eye, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life.. Without the guidance of Christ through the Holy Ghost, we could never figure this out in our own wisdom. It is hid from man and man considers it foolishness, but the gospel of Christ is the power of God “unto” salvation! Romans 1:16 & 17.
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned “already”, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, (The life of Christ with the Word of God bearing record!) and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
King James Version (KJV)
8 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: (Or, condemned sin in you and me!)
4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
The end goal that God has for us is to be perfect as He is. If we fall short of that goal, it’s not God’s fault, but ours because we did not heed the warning of Christ. He told us that the way into life and blessings were narrow and few would make it, but the way of destruction, pain, and death, was wide and many there be that enter in.
13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
Because God made us subject to this vanity, through Jesus Christ He has provided a way to not die in this condition. If we accept Christ as our Saviour, God has said if we accept Jesus as our Saviour, we could be forgiven of our sin, and the blood of Christ would cleanse us from all unrighteousness. All we have to do is ask for forgiveness when we do wrong. The plan of God is a growing process, it’s the same as a child in the nature world. We do not expect a three year old to be able to build a house, but it takes time to learn how to lay the foundation, frame up the walls , put on the roof, run the sewer and water lines, hook up the heating system. The time to learn all these things takes years. It’s the same with the Kingdom of God. I’ve been at it for sixty years and I’m still learning new thinks that I need to know about taking off the old man and putting on Christ.
1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from “all” unrighteousness.
King James Version (KJV)
5 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope: (Our hope is that we would be conformed into the image of Christ through the renewing of the mind!)
5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved “by his life”.
11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.
12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.
14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.
15 But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.
16 And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.
17 For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)
18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.
19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
20 Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:
21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
So when you fall, remember, all you have to do is ask God to forgive you, get up, go on. God wants us to get it right, it’s not God will that any should perish, but that “all” should come to repentance!
2 Peter 3:9
9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
